Gonzalo Garcia

Gonzalo Garcia, of Hobbs, passed into the arms of Angels on November 22, 2019. He was born on January 9, 1928 in Brady, Texas to Guadalupe and Juanita Garcia who raised him to be a strong independent person with a great sense of family responsibility.

Gonzalo grew up quickly, taking a great amount of responsibility at a young age. He started working as soon as he was able to help provide for his family, helping raise his younger siblings. Throughout all of his struggles in life, Gonzalo was a man of God. His faith got him through the rougher times, and he was known to pray for and bless everyone who came across him. As he got older and started his own family with his beloved wife Victoria he continued to work hard. Spending his time in the oil fields when he wasn’t with his family. Victoria and the children were his world, and he loved spending time with them. He never wanted to see his children cry and would do everything in his power to give them happy lives.

Gonzalo also had a love for antique cars and music. He loved going to car shows with his family and playing the harmonica for them when they had cookouts on the family land in Carlsbad. His love for people and for God was only matched by his love for food! He loved a good meal, whether it was a homecooked meal of chili and biscuits or a burger from Ma’ Browns, food was a big deal for him. After church on Sundays he loved to go to McDonalds to get coffee and apple pie, or to go to Albertsons in the morning for coffee and donuts.

This fun loving, caring, helpful man will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Gonzalo joins in Heaven his parents, his loving wife Victoria, daughter Toni Garcia, and siblings Lupe Ledezma, Ernesto Garcia and Juan Garcia.

Left to treasure his memory always are his children Janie Garcia of Fortuna, California, Rose Garcia of Hobbs, New Mexico, Joe Garcia of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Susie Garcia of Lubbock, Texas. As well as his sisters Angelita Gonzales of San Angelo, Texas and Lupita Suarez of Waco, Texas and a host of extended family and friends.
