Amy Leann Vigil was born on February 10, 1987, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Arturo and Teresa Vigil. On November 4, 2025, at the age of 38, Amy passed away in her hometown of Hobbs, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and an unforgettable spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Amy attended Hobbs High School and graduated in 2005. During her school years, she enjoyed playing basketball and building friendships.
Known for her beautiful, welcoming smile, Amy had a gift for making others feel seen, cared for, and at home. She was a devoted mother, whose daughter Averie was the apple of her eye, cherished daughter, loving sister, admirable aunt who adored her nephew Miguel and a loyal friend. Her presence brought comfort, her laughter was contagious, and her heart remained open to everyone who crossed her path.
Amy expressed her love through the things she created. She was gifted with her hands, sewing and baking with joy and intention. Her family especially treasured the delicious treats she baked and the thoughtful ways she offered help, especially to her mother. Acts of service were one of her deepest expressions of love.
A sweet and memorable part of Amy’s personality was her whimsical love for frogs. She collected them in every form imaginable. Stuffed animals, stickers, figurines, artwork. If it was a frog or the color green, Amy held it close. What began as a simple interest became one of her most endearing trademarks, something that always brought smiles and fond stories.
Amy enjoyed living small and loving big. She found peace in the simple things and had a gentle, grounding way of slowing down to appreciate the moment and the people around her. Her spirit was soft but strong, quiet yet deeply impactful.
Amy was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Maria Nievetos Vigil; her maternal grandparents, Miguel and Carlota Reyes; and her aunts, Betty Seals, Stella Ladd, and Abby Milan; as well as her uncle, Efren Vigil.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Averie Rae Vigil; her parents, Arturo and Teresa Vigil; her sisters, Robyn Nicole Vigil and April Noel Vigil; her nephew, Miguel Arturo Vigil; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love her dearly.
Amy’s memory will forever live on in those who carry her love in their hearts. She will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her joyful quirks, her love for frogs, and the light she brought into every room she entered. Though her time on earth ended far too soon, the impact of her life and the love she gave will continue to ripple through generations.
