Benjamin Fernandez

Benjamin K. Fernandez, 23, of Hobbs, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Hobbs. Funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez, celebrant. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Thursday the 25th at Griffin Funeral Home.

Mr. Fernandez was born on February 22, 1990 in Houston, Texas to Cynthia Barela and Rudy Fernandez. Benjamin graduated in 2008 from Hobbs High School. He worked as an oilfield mechanic. He enjoyed music, playing jokes and being with his friends. Benjamin enjoyed helping people he was a fun loving person with a big heart. He loved spending time with his family and his family loved spending time with him. Benjamin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Albert F. Barela and Ruben Fernandez.

Survivors include his parents, Cyndi Barela and Rudy Fernandez of Hobbs brother, Albert Justin Fernandez of Hobbs grandmothers, Yolanda Gomez Barela of Hobbs and Maria Benita Fernandez of Elsa, Texas nephews, Eryk Keith Fernandez and Zaiden Dealus Fernandez and numerous Tias, Tios and cousins.
