Betty Johnston

Betty Johnston, 83, of Yantis, TX and formerly of Eunice, passed away Sunday April 1, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in Brunson Cemetery, Eunice, NM with Pastor Matt Cook, officiating.

Betty was born on October 12, 1934 in Brownwood, Texas to Alvia and Josie Peterson. She married D.R. "Pete" Johnston in 1954 and they celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1989. Betty received her Master's degree in Business Education from Eastern New Mexico University and taught school throughout New Mexico for many years.

Betty is survived by her sons Roy Dan Johnston and wife, Connie of Yantis, TX and Donnie Johnston and wife Teresa of Canadian, TX; sisters, Delores Teague and husband Doug, Judy Van Arsdale and husband Tom and Nellie Jo Varley; grandchildren, Jeremy Savage, Brandi Dunn, Bryan Johnston and Brady Johnston and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; brothers James Lackey, Robert Lackey and Pete Peterson and her great granddaughter Shayann Johnston.
