Donald Gladden

Donald Gladden, 82, of Hobbs, formerly of Eunice, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January, 21, 2013 in Brunson Cemetery in Eunice, NM. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 21st at First United Methodist Church in Hobbs with the Reverend Darren Skinner, officiating.

Mr. Gladden was born on January 8, 1931 in Rotan, Texas to Herman and Clydise Edwards Gladden. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an instructor for jet engines. Mr. Gladden married Evelyn Mittag in Eunice on August 7, 1950 and they celebrated over 62 years of wonderful marriage. He owned and operated Gladden Motors in Eunice for over 30 years, was a bus contractor for Eunice Schools and served as Magistrate Judge for 17 years. Mr. Gladden was a member of the Eunice School Board for 12 years, a member of the Eunice City Council, First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was an avid Eunice Cardinal fan. Mr. Gladden lived his life to the fullest and was a true Christian and was currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Hobbs. He loved his family and enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and watching his great grandchildren grow up. Mr. Gladden was preceded in death by his parents son, Scott Gladden and sister, Billie Brown.


Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home daughters, Dona Patterson and husband, Bob, of Eunice and Sue Wallach and husband, Robert of Hobbs sisters, Pat Woodell and husband, E.A., of Eunice and Lou Neil Hardin and husband, L.O. of Jal brother, Mike Gladden and wife, Sandy of Ruidoso, NM grandchildren, Jason Meek, Jaime Meek, Tyler Wallach, Sara Wallach, Bryce Wallach, Meagan Gladden, Taylor Gladden and Max Gladden and 8 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Scott Gladden Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, 1910 N. Turner St., Attn: Josh Grassham, Hobbs, New Mexico, 88240 or the charity of your choice.

Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
