E. Casaus

E. Martha Casaus, 56, of Hobbs, passed away Friday, Jan. 10 in Hobbs. A Funeral Mass will be held 12 PM, Tuesday, Jan.14 at St. Helena Catholic Church in Hobbs with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez, Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony Cemetery in Ft. Sumner, NM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Monday at St. Helena Catholic Church.

Martha was born on Dec. 10, 1957, in Ft. Sumner, NM to Flavio and Josefina Nieto. She married Johnny Casaus on December 31, 1977, in Ft. Sumner. Martha loved to sew and cook but her true love was being a basketball mom, supporting her daughters as they played basketball growing up. Martha was a mom to many, and was known as Mama Casaus. She retired after working for the Ft. Sumner, Clovis and Hobbs schools. Martha was preceded in death by her parents sister, Eva Salazar, and brother, Victor Nieto.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Casaus, of Hobbs daughters, Amy Casaus and Johnna Casaus of Hobbs sisters, Eugenia Casaus, Gloria Gebman, Helen Sena, Jane Sena and Frances Nieto brothers, Ernest Nieto and Orlando Nieto and numerous nieces and nephews.
