Elsa Escamilla, born on June 26, 1956, in Lamesa, Texas, passed away on January 6, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt whose life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her strong sense of community.
Elsa devoted her career to Conoco Phillips, where she contributed her talents over the years. She proudly held a bachelor’s degree, reflecting her commitment to education and personal growth. Throughout her life, Elsa embodied the spirit of resilience and compassion, characteristics that defined her personality. She was a strong woman with a big heart, always taking care of her family and friends. Her love for her relatives was evident in the many handmade blankets she crafted as gifts for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, which they will forever treasure.
Elsa found immense joy in her hobbies, including cooking and sewing, and was known for her gift-giving, always eager to make her loved ones feel special. Furthermore, her faith played a central role in her life; she was a prayerful individual who valued her connections with friends from her prayer group, finding comfort and support within these relationships.
She is survived by her beloved spouse, Joe Escamilla; her son, Isaiah Padilla; her granddaughter, Gracie Garza; her sister, Angie Garza; her nieces, Stacy Jackson, Ashley & Juan Bourn; her nephew, Isaac Garza; and her great-nieces, Kali Padilla and Jada Padilla.
Elsa was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Lola Garza, and her siblings, Johnny Luna and Mary Garza.
A visitation will be held on January 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home, located at 401 N Dalmont St, Hobbs, NM 88240, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Elsa will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Prairie Haven Memorial Park at 3:15 PM the same day.
