Ethel Rogers

Ethel Irene Rogers, 94, of Hobbs, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Hobbs. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Griffin Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Rogers was born on June 9, 1918 in Wyoming to Walter and Mabel Rice Carroll. She came to Lea County in the early 50s and worked at Furrs Cafeteria for 23 years and retired in 2003. Mrs. Rogers married Homer Thompson and he preceded her in death in 1966, married Leon Copeland and he preceded her in death in 1981 and married Wayland Rogers in June 1985. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and loved her family. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, a daughter, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and one great great grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Wayland, of the home daughters, Judy Green and husband, Billy of Searcy, AR and Anita Thompson of Hobbs stepdaughters, Joyce Roberts and husband, Jimmy of Hobbs, Rita Smith and husband, Larry of Texas, and Linda RogersJohnson and husband, Tim of Lubbock, TX son, Gary Thompson and wife Sam of Lavergne, TN stepsons, John David Rogers and wife, Susan of Sugarland, TX and Gary Rogers and wife, Mary of Silver City, NM 20 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
