Evelyn Gladden

Evelyn Gladden, 85, of Hobbs, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 10, 2015 in Brunson Cemetery, Eunice, NM with the Reverend Darren Skinner, officiating.

Evelyn was born on November 18, 1929 in Eliasville, Texas to Max and Annie Mittag. She grew up in Eunice. Evelyn married Donald Gladden on August 7, 1950 and they celebrated over 62 years of wonderful marriage until his death in January 2013. She worked in the office of the New Mexico State Police and Lea County Sheriff's Department until her retirement. While living in Eunice, Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi and the United Methodist Women. After moving to Hobbs she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Friends of the Library. Evelyn enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone; she never met a stranger and she was known as everyone's "Mimi". She loved growing flowers, but her true love was her family and being with her children, grandchildren and watching her great grandchildren grow up. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott Gladden and sister, Maxine Todd.

Survivors include her daughters, Dona Patterson and her husband, Bob of Eunice and Sue Wallach and her husband, Robert of Hobbs; brother, Bill Mittag and wife, Jean of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jason and Heather Meek, Jaime Meek, Tyler and Michele Wallach, Kerry and Sara Coats, Bryce Wallach, Meagan Gladden and Gerald Gonzalez, Taylor Gladden and Max Gladden; 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pat Woodell of Eunice and Lou Neil Hardin and husband, Lawrence of Jal; brother-in-law, Mike Gladden and wife, Sandy of Ruidoso, NM.
