Obituary

Fabian I. Hernandez

Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandson, and Friend

Fabian I. Hernandez was called to his eternal resting place on September 18, 2026. He was born on August 2, 1990, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Leo and Diana Hernandez.

Fabian was a loving, caring, and unforgettable person who never met a stranger. He had a way of making people feel welcome, loved, and like family. To know Fabian was to know someone who gave his whole heart to the people and things he loved.

Fabian found joy in so many of life’s simple moments. He loved cooking his delicious food, fishing, watching horse races, cheering on his beloved 49ers, and coaching. He loved being on the field, whether he was warming up, playing the game, or simply being around the people he loved. Softball held a special place in his heart—especially his Traviesas.

He was the kind of person who would drop everything to cook for someone, especially his “BEST FRIEND” Sergio. If the 49ers were playing, you could bet Fabian was watching. He watched the games with his boys, and when the 49ers were on, everyone on the block seemed to know it. His passion for the game was contagious.

Fabian was also a true fisherman. He could catch fish when others couldn’t—even using fajita meat as bait. Those little stories and memories are the things his loved ones will hold onto forever.

But above all else, Fabian’s greatest love was his family.

He met the love of his life, Brianna Hernandez, in 2005. Although life took them down different paths for a time, they found their way back to each other in 2012. They married on August 15, 2014, beginning a life together filled with love, laughter, memories, and family.

Fabian was a proud and devoted father to Fabian (Cito), Aniya, Alijah, X’avien, and his baby girl, Araliz. His children were his world, and he would do absolutely anything for them. He especially loved playing Fortnite with his kids and their friends—even when he was the first one to get killed. Those moments of laughter and time spent together are memories his children will carry in their hearts forever.

If you ever met Fabian, there was a good chance the conversation would eventually include the 49ers or his “BEST FRIEND” Sergio. Whether they were golfing, listening to Fabian sing, or one of them simply being a panochon, their friendship was more like brotherhood. Everyone knew that if the Hernandez family was there, the Zambranos were never far behind.

Fabian cherished the time he spent with his dad and brother at the horse races, cooking chivo, and enjoying a beer together. He loved singing for his mom and sister—and, of course, he loved picking on his sister, something she will surely miss, even if she didn’t always admit it. Fabian also treasured his deep conversations with his mom and their daily check-ins. To his mom, he was always her “Gordo,” and that special bond between a mother and her son was something truly beautiful. Those conversations, calls, jokes, and everyday moments are memories she will carry in her heart forever. He found happiness in being surrounded by the people he loved, and his laughter, stories, singing, and unmistakable personality brought life wherever he went.

Fabian leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Brianna Hernandez; his children, Fabian (Cito), Aniya, Alijah, X’avien, and Araliz; his parents, Leo and Diana Hernandez; his brother, Leo; his sister, Yesenia (Ismael); his nephews, Zulian, Zeymar, and Kris; his nieces, Yameli and Emali; his aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all the many friends and loved ones who were blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ramon Peña; his grandmother, Dolores Hernandez; and his aunt, Terry Cervantes, his father in law George Serrano.

Though Fabian’s time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will live on through his children, his family, and every person whose life he touched.

He was a husband who loved deeply, a father who gave everything, a son who cherished his family, a brother and friend who stood by those he loved, and a man who never needed much to be happy—just his people, a ball field, a fishing pole, a good game, and someone to share it all with.

Until we meet again, Fabian. You will be loved, missed, and remembered always.
