Hattie Sanders

Hattie Mae Sanders, 98, of Hobbs passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Denton, Texas. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2014 at Pentecostal Temple, COGIC with Bishop Keith Jones and Pastor Ernest Hodge, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation for Mrs. Sanders will be Thursday from 9:00 AM 7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.

Hattie Mae was born on February 22, 1916 in Spur, Texas to Walter and Lorene Holmes. She was married to Virgil Sanders, Sr. for 62 years until his passing on January 13, 1995. Hattie enjoyed cooking, sewing and loved to go fishing. She was a faithful member of Pentecostal Temple and a servant of the Lord. Hattie was also preceded in death by her parents sons, Virgil Sanders, Jr. and Billy Roy Sanders sisters, Norvis Joiner and Gladys Moore brothers, William Hunter, Elmer Hunter, Walter Homes, D.W. Holmes, James Holmes and Alvin Hunter grandsons, Rainelle Roy Sanders, Charles Walker and Garland Walker.

Survivors include her daughters, Virdie Hall, Ruth Walker, Gayle Taylor , Darlene Sanders all of Hobbs, LaDora Sanders of Denver, CO and Johnnie Mae Sanders of Denton, TX sisters, Lois Berry and Janie Price 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
