Hermida Rivera

Hermida Rivera, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on December 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by those who love her. She was born on June 14, 1940 in Fort Davis, Texas. A funeral service in her honor will be held on December 12, 2022 at 5pm at Griffin Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome at the Funeral Home starting at 10am that same day.

Hermida was the backbone of her family, always welcoming anyone into her home. Known as the Avenue Grandma, she loved unconditionally and was loved in return. She was not a pushover though, with a will as strong as iron and would not put up with any nonsense. Hermida could often be found watching her novellas, eating 3 musketeers and drinking a coke or rootbeer. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Juan and Elvia Olivas and Gloria Olivas, her sister, as well as Ben and Jesus Olivas, her brothers.

Left to treasure her memory are her children Andrew Botello, Vivian Botello, Richard Botello, Ernest Rivera, Sally Botello, Hope Botello, Sylvia Rivera, Delia Molinar and Buffy Rivera. She is also survived by her siblings Federico, Armando, Liberato, Linda, Veta, Carol Estokia and Yolanda, as well as 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other extended family who loved her dearly.
