Jaylene L. Roberts, 70, died in Hobbs, NM on June 15, 2026.

She grew up in Carlsbad, NM and graduated from Carlsbad High School. She earned her teaching degree from New Mexico State University. Upon graduation from New Mexico State, she was hired by Hobbs Independent Schools as a kindergarten teacher at Taylor Elementary where she was employed for two years. She moved to College Lane Elementary as kindergarten teacher and retired after 30 years of teaching.

After retirement, she stayed very active in her community. She volunteered with Lovington Lions Club helping with eye screening of school students. She eventually moved into the Lions Club President position. She also was very generous to many friends and their families by taking them to doctor’s visits, medical procedures, and even doing shopping as needed. She was also very active in Genealogy researching the family’s history as well as helping others with their searches.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Iva Lee Roberts. She is survived by two brothers, Danny Roberts and his wife Brenda and Lanny Roberts and his wife Shirley; nephews, Curtis Roberts, Paul Roberts, and Reuel Purcell; nieces, Daylene Sosbe, Sarah Turnage, and Amber Bullard, and many grand nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Lovington’s Lions Club, P.O. Box 1781, Lovington, NM 88260 in Jaylene’s name specifying either for the eye screening project or their scholarship fund.
