Jesús Prieto Luján (Mami Chuy), amada esposa, madre, abuelita y bisabuelita, partió en paz el 3 de septiembre de 2025 en Lubbock, Texas, a la edad de 87 años. 

Jesús nació el 21 de septiembre de 1937 en Barrancos de Guadalupe, Chihuahua, México, hija de Teodora Martínez Prieto y Florencio Prieto. A lo largo de su vida fue un ejemplo de fortaleza, amor y dedicación a su familia. 

Fue conocida con cariño por sus familiares y amistades como Mami Chuy, Amá, Chita y Chuy. Fue una mujer fuerte, una gran mujer, que nos amó con toda su alma. Su hogar fue siempre un lugar de refugio, de fe y de abundante amor, donde cada visita se recibía con los brazos abiertos y la mesa llena de comida preparada con cariño. Fue un pilar fundamental y el lazo que unía a su familia. Mami Chuy siempre será recordada por su fuerza, su humildad, su carácter firme, su generosidad y el amor que brindaba sin medida. 

El 10 de agosto de 1955, Jesús se casó con su compañero de vida, Cruz Luján. Su unión de casi 70 años sentó las bases de una hermosa familia que hoy abarca cuatro generaciones. 

El día de su partida, el cielo se llenó de gozo con su llegada. La recibieron sus padres, Teodora y Florencio Prieto; todas sus hermanas: Marcelina, Agripina, María, Guadalupe y Paula; todos sus hermanos: Juan, Ramón, Cruz y José; su esposo Cruz Luján; su yerno Saúl Aranda; y bisnieta Ellie.

A Jesús le sobreviven con amor y gratitud sus hijos: Javier Luján; Basilia y José Rodríguez; Alfredo y Olga Luján; Yolanda y Misael Macías; Pilar y Angie Luján; Ramón y María Luján; y Elia (Saúl †) Aranda. También deja un legado de quince nietos, veinte bisnietos, así como numerosas sobrinas, sobrinos, y amistades que siempre honrarán su memoria.

Quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla conservarán en su corazón el recuerdo de una mujer excepcional: fuerte, amorosa, generosa y llena de fe. Su vida fue un reflejo de entrega y de amor incondicional.


Jesús Prieto Luján (Mami Chuy), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 87.

She was born on September 21, 1937, in Barrancos de Guadalupe, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Teodora Martínez Prieto and Florencio Prieto. Throughout her life, she embodied strength, devotion, and unconditional love for her family. 

She was lovingly known by her family and friends as Mami Chuy, Amá, Chita, and Chuy. She was a strong woman, a remarkable woman, who loved us with all her heart. Her home was always a place of refuge, faith, and abundant love, where every visit was welcomed with open arms and a table full of food prepared with love. She was a pillar and the bond that kept her family united. Mami Chuy will always be remembered for her strength, humility, steadfast character, generosity, and the boundless love she gave. 

On August 10, 1955, Jesús married her lifelong companion, Cruz Luján. Their nearly 70 years together laid the foundation for a beautiful family that now spans four generations. 

On the day of her passing, heaven rejoiced at her arrival. She was welcomed by her parents, Teodora and Florencio Prieto; her sisters Marcelina, Agripina, María, Guadalupe, and Paula; her brothers Juan, Ramón, Cruz, and José; her beloved husband, Cruz Luján; her son-in-law, Saúl Aranda; and her great-granddaughter, Ellie. 

She is survived with love and gratitude by her children: Javier Luján; Basilia and José Rodríguez; Alfredo and Olga Luján; Yolanda and Misael Macías; Pilar and Angie Luján; Ramón and María Luján; and Elia (Saúl †) Aranda. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever honor her memory. 

Those who had the privilege of knowing her will carry in their hearts the memory of an exceptional woman: strong, loving, generous, and full of faith. Her life was a reflection of devotion and unconditional love.
