Lela Joan Gladden, 63, of Eunice passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 in Hobbs. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Eunice with Dr. Kenneth Reed, officiating.
Lela was born on March 14, 1953 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Glendon and Juana Smith. Mrs. Gladden worked as a nurse for over 25 years at the Jal Clinic. She married Jimmy Gladden and they celebrated over 42 years of wonderful marriage before his death in 2014.
Lela enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in rodeo events and attending Eunice Cardinal sporting events.
Mrs. Gladden was preceded in death by: her parents, Glendon and Juana Smith, spouse, Jimmy Gladden, brothers, Marty Smith, Roy Smith, and David Smith, and sisters, June Smith and Jennifer Plew.
Survivors include her daughter Xan Hobbs and husband Billy, sons Randy Gladden and wife Natalie, and Jerad Gladden and wife Wendi, sisters, Joy Anderson and husband Jr., Julia Wilkerson and husband Charles, brother, Vance Smith, grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Hobbs, Chelsea Hobbs, Katlynn Atkinson, Kyle Jurney, Brett Hobbs, McKenzie Atkinson, Faith Hobbs, Payton Gladden, and Hayden Hobbs, great-grandchildren, Oliver Baker, Jonah Baker, Jordyn Hobbs, Jackson Hobbs, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
