Joe also known as “Pepe to family. His birth name Jose means “God will increase” or “He will add.” When around Joe you could always feel this soaring feeling which many know to be true.
Joe passed away on November 26, 2025, in Hobbs, New Mexico at the Muniz residence. He was recently battling health complications these past few years and though we neared the end of the journey with Joe, it did not define it – nor will it define his spirit, his legacy, or his undimmable light.
Joe was born March 19, 1965, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Paz Muniz and Elma Muniz. As a teenager Joe would DJ at clubs such as Robinsons in the 80’s and went to clubs in Midland & Odessa with his siblings Venezia and Jaime, always having a good time with a free spirit. His love for music was like no other, he would always be listening to music no matter the time of day, even blasting club music in the morning. Joe always loved to dance whether it was in the club, in the car, or just anywhere else, he always felt a free spirit whenever the music started. In his adult years, he ventured into opening a car wash and tint shop called Ultimate which was a huge part of his success story.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Jose Paz Muniz and brother Rodrigo Muniz.
He is survived by his mother Elma Muniz of Hobbs, sister Venezia Chavez along with her partner Pablo Chavez, daughter Natalia Chavez, and son Isaac Chavez of Austin Texas. Brother Jaime Muniz of Hobbs, Jaime’s son Jaime Jr. along with partner Erica, son Angel, Nathaniel, Nohea, Ninoa Muniz of Hobbs. Jaime’s daughter Yvonne along with partner Jeremy Bara, daughter Zoey, Aubrey, Addilyn, and son Mason Bara of Hobbs. Jaime’s youngest son Rodrigo Muniz along with partner Jasmine of Hobbs. And dear friend Toby. With eternal love for all.
His Life will be celebrated by those who loved him most. As we say our farewell, we take knowledge that his life was fun, loud, unique, and well-lived. He was always full of purpose and overbearing love. I am so glad we had this time together just to laugh and dance to a song. Seems we just got started, and before you know it comes the time where we have to say so long. Rest in peace, dear Joe Muniz you will be missed, until we meet again.
