Johnny Florez

Johnny "JBG" Florez, 64, of Hobbs, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Hobbs. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday the 6th from 12:00-7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.

Johnny was born on October 22, 1950 in Roswell, NM to Domingo Florez and Lucia Lopez. He married Azucena Ojeda on December 31, 1971 in Hobbs and they celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage. Johnny was as a crew chief in the oilfield and also as a roofer for many years. He enjoyed dancing and listening to soul music and enjoyed cruising in his lowrider truck. Johnny loved his family very much and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his mother, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a great grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Azucena Florez of the home; daughters, Priscilla Florez Ybarra (Ruben), Celia Ramirez (Daniel), Mia Vail (Matthew) and Sofia Florez; son, Gabriel Florez, (Esther); 4 sisters; 5 brothers; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
