Jose Castillo

Jose Adan Castillo, resident of Hobbs, NM, formerly of Seminole, TX passed away on Friday, September 7 after a short illness at the age of 89 years. Jose Adan was born on July 6, 1929 in Ruidosa, TX to Librado and Cruz Castillo. Many of his formative years were spent in Mexico and as he grew older he spent time in transit between Mexico and Texas. On one of these visits to Mexico he met his beloved wife, Eduvijes. The young couple settled in Texas and raised a large family.

Jose Adan was a man of his time; tough, stubborn, independent, and fiercely loyal. He was true to the standards of husband and father set for him by his parents. He loved the outdoors, he loved growing things, and he loved horses - which he maintained and rode until just a few years ago.

He will be sadly missed by his eight sons and daughters; Emilio Castillo, Jessica Gonzales, Elodia Ponce, Elia Selander, Librado Castillo, Adelia Martinez, Elida Jimenez, Elvia Lechuga; twenty Grandchildren; and numerous Great-Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Eduvijes.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Jose Adan will be held on Wednesday, September 12, at 10 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church.
