Joyce Evelyn Peacock

Joyce Evelyn Peacock, 90, passed away on March 14, 2024, in Hobbs. Viewing will take place at Griffin Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 1:00 at Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Joyce was born on July 27, 1933, to Johnie Willis and Edna Earl Smith in Holder County, Tx. Joyce was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s she owned Joyce’s Plants and Macrame where she enjoyed visiting and getting to know people. She also worked in the Hobbs School System in the Cafeteria for many years and enjoyed it very much.

Joyce is survived by three of her six children, Cheryle Estala, David McCann, and Gene Wisener of El Paso, Texas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Burfield, and two sons, John McCann and Benjamin McCann. She is also survived by two sisters, Glenda Perry and Bonnie Peacock, as well as eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Johnie Smith, Bacel Smith and Leroy Smith.
