Today and for the rest of our lives, we will celebrate the life of our beloved Juwan Dobbins, Jr. He grew up in Hobbs. He loved basketball and cars. But the love of his family and children came first, and foremost. He loved his mother, sisters, and grandmother with a fierce passion. His admiration of cars began at an early age, and he could name any make or model. He was a great family man, who wouldn’t hesitate to tell anyone who was in earshot about his loving family. He also adored his nephews, yet found generous time to give to his grandmother Theresa. In fact, he made sure all the women in his family were loved and protected. He graduated in Arizona, receiving degrees of training in science and plumbing. He played basketball for the “Little Dribblers,” and had been placed in the school’s gifted program. He was a warrior king, who knew no fear, standing tall as a man. He loved everyone and when he entered a room his presence and smile made the difference. And when he exited the room, his absence could be felt. He never left without leaving words of encouragement and assurances to add an extra “light” to your day. Juwan spent time living in California, learning much about the world from his stepfather, before he journeyed to Arizona to learn his professional trades. He was preceded in death by his son, Juwan Dobbins III; his grandmother, Barbara Dobbins; grandfather, Freddie Dobbins, Sr.; and great grandmother, Ethel Mae Walker. He is survived by a son, Hezekiah Dobbins, two daughters, Aaleyah and Jenesis Dobbins; his mother, Aracelia Salinas; his father, Juwan Dobbins, Dr.; his stepfather, Jeffrey Walker; a brother, Tevon Cobbs; four sisters, Christy Dobbins, Nicolette Dobbins, Cherrish Walker, and Cherry Walker; his grandmothers, Dora Salinas & Theresa Walker; and grandfather, Mario Perez.
