Lupe Cabrera, 91, of Hobbs, NM passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Griffin Funeral Home with Father Juan Carlos as officiant.
Mr. Cabrera was born on December 12, 1921 in Lamar, Colorado to Martin and Maria Martinez Cabrera. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the 443rd Battalion. He was a recipient of numerous medals including a Purple Heart, 3 bronze stars for Act of Valor, WWII Victory and a Medal of Good Conduct.
Mr. Cabrera loved woodworking when he was younger. He also enjoyed spending his days with his dog, Boots. Mr. Cabrera was preceded in death by his wife of 48years, Jutta Cabrera his parents 3 sisters 5 brothers nephew, Martin Cabrera and niece, Magdalena Masters. He and his wife had no children, but he was survived by his nieces, Mary Lou Archibald of San Antonio, Margaret Farris of Jal, Rita Granger of Santa Fe nephews David Cabrera of Lubbock and Daniel Cabrera of Albuquerque and 20 great nieces and nephews.
