Maria De La Luz Serna

Maria De La Luz Serna Ponce was born on November 22, 1950, in Petatlan Guerrero to Calixto Ponce and Maria Del Carmen Peregrino. In the early 1970’s Maria made Hobbs, NM her permanent home. In 1995 she met the love of her life, her husband, Jaime Ramirez. She passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023.

Maria had a heart of gold. She was a wonderful wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Maria worked as the breakfast manager at McDonald’s for over twenty (20) years. She adored her daughters and grandchildren who she would call “mis amores y mis tesoros.” She is deeply missed & will forever be in our hearts.

She is survived by a Sister, Maria Heriberta Serna Ponce and a brother, Jose Narcizo Serna Ponce from Mexico, her four daughters, Emma Galindo (Fabian), Cecilia Mendoza, Estela Hernandez, Leticia Mendoza (Adan), her grandchildren; Marco A. Caballero (Ruby), Alonzo Hernandez (Rachel), Miguel A. Galindo, Gary Caballero (Madi), Briana Ramirez, Xena Caballero (Luis), Crystal Ramirez (Aaron), Maribel Segovia (Ricky), Aaron Hernandez (Geoffrey), Isaias Mendoza, Gustavo Martinez (Laura), three step grandchildren, Reaceen, Anthony and Valorrie Hernandez and 25 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death by her parents, her husband and her son-in-law, Iram Ubaldo Hernandez.
