Marie Brown

Marie Brown, 90, of Hobbs, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 in a local nursing home. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Andrew Hebert, officiating.

Mrs. Brown was born on November 19, 1922 in Erwinville, LA to Willis Cicero Hagwood and Emma Lela Broome Hagwood. She had been a resident of Hobbs since 1961. Marie married Bill Brown on September 19, 1942 in Laurel, MS and they celebrated over 69 wonderful years together until his death on June 7, 2012. She retired from Gibsons after working there for many years. Mrs. Brown was a charter member of the Iris Society and member of the Rose Society. She and Bill were round dance instructors and choreographers throughout New Mexico. Mrs. Brown was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and sang in the choir as well as the Living Christmas Tree. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include her daughters Judy Martin and her husband, Roy and Terri Middleton and her husband, Rodney, all of Hobbs son, Roger Brown of Lubbock, TX grandchildren, Billy, Lee and Chris Middleton, Roy Gene and Wendy Martin and 11 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or Taylor Memorial Baptist Church Lottie Moon Offering. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
