Mary Brewer

Mary Louise (Bookman) Brewer was born on April 3, 1944 in Lawton Oklahoma to Doris Marie Williams and Ulysses Bookman and passed into the arms of the Lord on June 28, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. She was reared in Lawton until the age of about 9 years old and later was moves to Hobbs, New Mexico. Mary attended Booker T Washington School in Hobbs, and from a young age learned her gospel and obeyed the word of the Lord all her life.  Attending the Roxanna Street Church of Christ with her family in her pursuit of a relationship with her Savior. Mary worked for GTE as a Customer Service Rep for a number of years, before finding employment with the Hobbs School district as a bus driver; Bus #33 the “Best Route ever”, so the kids state. She loved her riders and they even today smile and speak about their, “Best bus driver ever”, Mrs. Brewer. After she left the school system Mary worked for Leaders as a care group home coordinator before she retired.

Mary met the love of her life Willie Roy Brewer, and they married on September 27th, 1970 in Hobbs, NM. Through their union, Mary gave birth to 3 sons Patrick Brewer (Deceased), Rodney Brewer (Hobbs NM), and Troy Brewer (Christina, of Hobbs NM). She also had three other children, Dedrick (Abilene, TX), Soyna (Gary, Tyler, TX) and Kristal (Houston, TX) all of whom she loved very much.

Mrs. Mary Brewer moved to Tyler TX in 1999 where she found a wonderful church family at South Central Church of Christ under the ministry of Darryl Bowdre and served the Lord throughout her days. Mary is preceded in death by her loving parents, Doris Marie Woods (Morgan), Ulysses Bookman, son Patrick Laroy Brewer and brothers Barry and Donald Woods.

Left to treasure her memory are her children; Dedrick Brewer, Rodney Brewer, Troy Brewer (Christina), Sonya Marie Bookman-Hicks (Gary) and Kristal Yvette Petties-Como. As well as her God-son Kerry Adkinson, and siblings Brenice Gardner (Arthur), James Woods (Mary) and Morgan Darnell Woods (Barbara). She will be dearly missed by not only her family, but all those who knew her.
