Mary Montes

Mary A. Montes, 74, of Hobbs, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Hobbs. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 PM, Sunday at Griffin Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.

Mary was born on August 10, 1941 in El Paso, Texas to Canuto and Lydia H. Morales. She married George Montes, Sr. on November 30, 1959 in El Paso, Texas and they celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage until his death in February 2012. She worked for 19 years as the switchboard operator at New Mexico Junior College. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Society at Hobbs Health Care and the St. Rita Circle at St. Helena Catholic Church. Mary was also preceded in death by her father and granddaughter, Angela Marie DeLeon.

Survivors include her sons, George Montes, Jr. and wife, Donna and Victor Montes and wife, Patti; daughters, Annette DeLeon and husband, Albert and Deborah Montes and husband, Hector Aldrete; mother, Lydia H. Morales; 4 siblings; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
