Mary Perez Pallanes, fondly known to all as Mary Lou, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 77 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Born on April 27, 1948, in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, coming to the U.S. through a work program her parents were part of. Mary spent her youth attending Hobbs schools and became a proud citizen of the United States. She spent her formative years in Hobbs, where she nurtured deep roots and a loving family marrying Ines (Nay) Sais Pallanes from Pecos, TX on August 27, 1966, at St. Helena Catholic Church.
Mary received her Nursing degree from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs and became a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse. She served the Hobbs community for 25 years through her roles at Hobbs Health Care and the NM Department of Health. Her commitment to the well-being of others was evident in her professional life and her personal relationships. She was known for her generous spirit and her unwavering support for her family, never missing a concert, dance recital, or sports competition involving her children or grandchildren.
Family was central to Mary’s life sharing 60 cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, Ines (Nay) Sais Pallanes. Together, they raised two sons, Dedrick Pallanes, married to Sharon, and Donovan (Donny) Pallanes, married to Audri and a cherished grandmother to Jarrett Pallanes and his wife Rachel, Maegan Bretones and her husband Jeremiah, Tyler Pallanes and his fiancé Sydney, Lauren Pallanes and her fiancé Bryce, Landon Pallanes, Lane Pallanes, and Landri Pallanes. Her legacy extends through five great-grandchildren, Breckyn, Lennox, Nash, Baylor, and Callan. Her siblings, Mary, Martha, Bertha, and Betty, and the memory of her siblings Rose, Irma, Phillip, and her parents Dolores and Bertha Perez, remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Mary was a devout Catholic and became a catechist finding peace in daily prayer and raising her family in faith at St. Helena Catholic Church, where she and Nay were married. Her love for cooking, tending to her flowers, and hosting family gatherings brought joy to all who knew her.
