Melissa Chason

Melissa Beth Chason, 53, of Hobbs passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jesse Garcia officiating.

Melissa was born on January 11, 1964 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Eva Grogan Nowell and Walter Dea Nowell. She worked for answering services throughout her years, and enjoyed helping others. Melissa loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her dad, Walter Dea Nowell, brother Clifford Kirkendal, and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Grogan.

Survivors include her daughter Jenifer Freeman and son-in-law Samuel McElravy, son Eric Snead and his wife Ashley, her mother Eva Nowell, and seven grandchildren, Sammy, Zachary, Jacey, Katherine, Hannah, Addison, and Kaden. Melissa is also survived by two sisters, Emily Roberts of Hobbs and Peggy Baldree and her husband Michael of Paris, Texas, one niece Tabatha Friday, two nephews, Clifford Ivey and Derrick Ivey along with several aunts and uncles. Melissa was loved very much and will be missed by everyone.
