Preston Wayne Brooker was born October 1, 1944, in McCamey, Texas to Alton Carroll and Margie Lee Brooker. Preston departed from us on June 21, 2023, in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Preston married the love of his life Brenda and spent a wonderful 31 years together before she passed. They have two sons Clifton Brooker, Kelly Brooker (Rainey), and three daughters Stacy Phillips (John), Veda Miller, and LaCreatia Jones (Bobby). 13 Grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Preston worked for 37 years in the pot ash mines, Kerr—McGee, New Mexico Potash, and Mississippi Potash after retiring from there he spent 6 years as maintenance for the Lea Regional Airport. He loved to do woodwork, making all sorts of different things like quilt racks, tables, rocking chairs, just whatever struck him or something someone would ask him for. Preston had a great love of all kinds of music. Especially Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, any classic rock, or country.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Margie, his loving wife Brenda, and a grandchild Christopher Rollins.

Left to cherish his memories are brothers Dale Brooker (Janet), CD Brooker (Cindy), sister Jo Ann King (Jimmy), sons Clifton and Kelly (Rainey) daughters Stacy (John), Veda, and LaCreatia (Bobby), along with his special “wife” Jaci Held, and his special nurse Sherry Berger. 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grand children, and his best friend, his dog Hank Williams.
