Ramona Nickles

Ramona Nickles, 77, of Hobbs passed away on May 14, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Segura as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM-8:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 at Griffin Funeral Home.

Ramona was born on May 14, 1941 in Carlsbad, NM to Senovio and Leandra Mendoza. She married Anatalio Nickles in Carlsbad, NM on September 3, 1956 and they celebrated over 61 years of marriage. Ramona received an Associate Degree from NMJC and worked as an accountant, paralegal and bookkeeper but her most rewarding job was being a seamstress. She made all of her children's clothes but was also known for making quinceanera, flamenco and folklorico dresses and "Never a stitch popped!"

Ramona had a heart of gold; always taking in those that needed help and cooking and caring for everyone. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Barbara Nickles Velasques; son Angel Nickles and 8 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband Anatalio Nickles of the home; daughter Bonnie Juarez (Armando) of Hobbs; sons Anatalio Nickles, Jr. (Leticia) of Laredo, TX and Alberto M. Nickles (Joylynne) of Swansboro, NC; grandchildren Sonia Tovar, Sombra Nickles, Anatalio Domenic Nickles, Amanda Nickles, JoAngela Brown, Jazmin Juarez, Anatalio Nickles, Armando Juarez, Jr. and 5 great grandchildren.
