Rebecca Gonzalez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Hobbs, New Mexico, at the age of 68.
Born on April 13, 1957, to Gavino and Elvira Carrillo, Rebecca was one of many siblings in a strong and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Oralia Calvillo and Herlinda Alonzo, and her brother-in-law Benito Alonzo. She is survived by Oralia’s husband, Carlos Calvillo, who remains a cherished part of the family.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband, Lorenzo Gonzalez, and their two sons, Gregory Gonzales and Daniel Carrillo. Daniel is married to Cenia Carrillo, and together they gave Rebecca four cherished grandchildren: Christy, Shurey, Timothy, Nelly and Delilah Carrillo, who is married to Timothy Carrillo. Gregory is the proud father of her grandson Jake.
Her grandchildren were truly the light of her world. Rebecca cherished every moment with them, especially their visits and sleepovers that filled her home — and her heart — with laughter, stories, and love.
She also leaves behind her loving sisters: Aurora Martinez (Claudio), Maria Bonilla (Manuel), and Graciela Valasquez(Robert), as well as her brothers Gavino Carrillo and Ricardo Carrillo.
Rebecca was the sunshine on her family’s toughest days — always offering strength, kindness, and a sense of calm that made even the hardest times feel bearable. She had a heart for service and creativity, which she expressed through her love of sewing, and most recently, her favorite new pastime: watching TikTok on her iPad. If you knew Rebecca, you know she’s probably in heaven right now — feet up, heart full, and still scrolling.
She was also known for her legendary banana bread, which warmed many hearts and homes over the years. Rebecca’s life was one of deep love, quiet strength, and simple joys. Her memory will live on in every recipe passed down, every stitch sewn, and every laugh shared over a funny video she insisted you had to see.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
