Russell Daniel Mercer II was brought into this world March 05, 1995, to Russell D Mercer and Melissa (Troxell) Whinery in Auburn, Indiana. Russell (28) passed away in his home on July 27, 2023, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Russell “Rusty” was always a fun-loving guy, he was quiet unless he sang, then it was very loud and usually off key. He had a tremendous love of his family. He had a close relationship with his mom, he was her “Buddy,” some may say mama’s boy, but he did not care. Of course, Rusty loved all his nieces and nephews, he enjoyed spending time with them, especially Jayden. They loved to hang out together. Russell loved talking on the phone and texting his brother Ron. Rusty’s favorite pass time was to play video games. Whether it was GTA5, Resident Evil 4, or God of War, among others. He also enjoyed going outside for his smoke breaks! Even though he kept to himself he could not help but touch people when he met them, he was a special soul.
Rusty was preceded in death by his grandmother Shannon Arnett, grandfather D.L. Whinery, grandfather Robert Mercer, uncle Robert Mercer, and great-grandparents Bill and Grace Steiner.
Left behind to treasure his memory are his parents Danny and Melissa Whinery, Dad Russell Mercer I, brothers Ron Mercer and wife LaTanya Bowie, Cameron Whinery, and Kevin Whinery, sister Rochelle and husband Tyler Franklin, nephews Jayden, Joshua, and niece Robin, grandparents Phillip and Denise Troxell, grandmother Kay Whinery, his close friend Anthony Day, girlfriend Elli Roybal, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
