Shirley Jewel Hawkins

Shirley Jewel Hawkins, 83, of Hobbs, NM passed away on November 21, 2025. Born in Dublin, TX on December 21, 1941, her family later moved to Levelland, TX where she attended school and was a Levelland Lobos cheerleader. Shirley lived a very full life and accomplished many things such as a career in cosmetology, modeling, skydiving and she also obtained her pilot’s license. She was a skilled dressage equestrian and her love of animals led to her owning The Dog Bone II grooming shop in Hobbs for several years.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother Louise (Tolar) Chamberlain, her stepfather L.O. Chamberlain, her father Robert Pettyjohn, a brother “Bud” Chamberlain, and a grandson Gannon Williams.

Survivors include her sons Jim Edwards and wife Lisa of San Bernardino, CA and Kevin Edwards and his wife Debbie of Shingle Springs, CA and her daughter Rachel (Gatchell) Sergent of Eunice, NM. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ace Edwards of San Bernardino, CA, Nick Edwards of Victorville, CA, Stephanie Cisco of Winchester, TN, Kana Hall of Hobbs, NM and BreeAnne Williams of Sour Lake, TX.

Her adventurous spirit will leave a lasting legacy of living life to the fullest for those of us who knew and loved her.
