Shirley Russell

Shirley Russell, 70 of Hobbs passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on July 13, 1943 in Marshall, TX to Edmond J. and Laura E. Breazeale Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs. Interment will follow in the Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday in the Griffin Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home,
She attended school in Texas and NM graduated from Carlsbad High in 1961 and she married Odie Russell on May 17, 1962 in Carlsbad and they made their home in Carlsbad and came to Lea County 1969. She was very involved in her husbands racing career and they purchased the Lea County Speed Bowl and ran the track for numerous years. Shirley enjoyed going to the car races, Baking and spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by: her husband Odie of the home 1 son Ricky Wayne Russell and wife Connie of Midland, TX 1 daughter Sandra Jean Fox of Alamogordo, NM Mother Laura Fitzgerald of Lovington, NM 8 grandchildren: Amanda Allison and husband Daniel of Hobbs Billy Fox and wife Heather of Lubbock, TX Robert Russell and wife Tiffany of Tom Ball, TX Gary Fox of Lubbock, TX Nathan Fox of Alabama Ted Guzman, Christy Marquez and Jenny Rhines all of Hobbs numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Father, 1 sister Betty Burris and 1 son in law Chad Fox.
