Socorro S. Martinez

Socorro Saiz Martinez, lovingly known as “Sokey,” was born on May 27, 1956, in Fabens, Texas, to Maria de la Luz Zavala and Victoriano Martinez. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and deep devotion to those she loved.
Socorro spent many years living in Hobbs, New Mexico, where she built a life centered around family and friends. During her time there, she married Leonel V. Dominguez. Sokey was known as being the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a story, or a laugh that could light up a room. Her warmth and humor brought joy to everyone who knew her. Above all else, Sokey lived for her family. Her greatest pride and happiness came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved deeply and generously, always putting her family first and making sure everyone around her felt cared for. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph Garcia; her brothers Ciprano Martinez, Frank Martinez, Phillip Martinez, Jose Martinez, Jesus Zavala, and Augustin Zavala; and her sisters Carol Rios and Eva Martinez. Socorro is survived by her loving children: Lorena Martinez; Brandy and husband Daniel Rodriguez; Debra Garcia; Sammy Contreras; Mariah and husband Jeremy Vanwinkle. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry her memory and spirit forward. She is also survived by her brothers Juan Martinez, Serapo Martinez, Julian Zavala, and Jesse Zavala, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
