Victor DeRay McKelvy was born on February 25, 1963 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Edward Lee and Nancy McKelvy. He departed this life on January 1, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Griffin Funeral Home at 10am.
Victor, along with his Mother and grandparents Porter and Willie Mae Shoals, was a traveler. In his early years he lived in Arizona, before moving back to New Mexico where he graduated High School from Bloomfield High. Victor never met a stranger, wherever he went in his life he made friends easily and he treasured those people he called friends. Listening to classic rock music, watching westerns or spending time with his family, Victor was always moving about. If there was something to be done, he took care of it. Victor also enjoyed fixing bicycles and being outdoors. He worked a variety of trades throughout his life; welding, cement finisher and horticulturist before settling into his work as a truck driver for the oil fields. No matter what task he was doing though, it would be completed to the best of his ability. Preceded Victor in death are his father, grandparents, and a multitude of other family members.
Left to remember Victor are his mother Nancy McKelvy, wife Christina McKelvy, daughter Diandra McKelvy, son Victor McKelvy Ⅱ, grandchildren Ethan McKelvy, Adam Lowe Jr, Amelia McKelvy and Neveah McKelvy as well as a host of extended family and friends.
