Bertha Sims, of Hobbs, was greeted by the angels on March 24, 2021. She was born on October 21, 1940 in the Pace Community, Louisiana to Roland and Maudie Lonadier. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held on Monday, March 29 at 2pm at the Fellowship of Believers on Grimes St. in Hobbs, with burial to follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held that morning also at the church from 10am-12:30pm.
Bertha grew up in the Natchitoches area of Louisiana with her two brothers where she attended school and met the love of her life. In August of 1959 she married Wilbert Sims, shortly thereafter they moved to Hobbs where they raised two sons. Bertha focused her life on her family, she loved nothing more then spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her happiest times were when she was making tamales with the whole family, crafting with her daughter in law, or spoiling her grandchildren. This firecracker of a woman loved her family fiercely and without reservation. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
She is preceded in passing by her beloved parents and brother Herbert Lonadier.
Those who will remember her smile forever are her husband Wilbert, sons David (Dawn) and Michael (Denise), grandchildren Gregory, Kaiden and Jake, great grandchildren Dusty, Krysta and Danika. She is also survived by her brother Winfred Lonadier and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
