Delsa Perez

Delsa Perez, 62, of Hobbs NM went home to be with our Lord on February 26, 2020. Delsa (Marie) Perez was born to parents Candelario C. and Juanita R. Robledo on July 2, 1957 in Eldorado, Texas. Delsa attended Eldorado High School and worked at the hospital in town. She moved to Hobbs, NM with her two children in 1985. Delsa worked various jobs in town. Her most enjoyable were those at Lea Regional Hospital, NMJC and for the Hobbs Municipal Schools up until her recent retirement.

In 1987, Delsa met the love of her life, Mark Layne Lilley. Together, they shared 33 wonderful years living and enjoying life. After Mark and Delsa raised her children, she spent her time at the softball complex. Delsa loved playing women’s softball. The complex was her second home from 6am till after midnight, Delsa would be playing softball. She would strike them out from the mound or she would psyche them out while catching from behind the plate. No matter the position, Delsa was at her best. When it was tournament time, you could always count on Delsa. She loved traveling to out of town games and hanging out with the girls. Nine times out of ten they would bring home a trophy and the memories that came with it.

After Delsa hung up her cleats, she and Mark would enjoy another past time in raising their two granddaughters, Samantha and Lilly. These beautiful girls were her pride and joy. From grammer school thru graduation, Delsa never missed a sporting event. Whether it was Lilly's volleyball or Samantha's soft ball, you would always find Mark and Delsa in the stands cheering them on. She was so proud of her girls. When Samantha graduated and Lilly close behind, another little angel appeared into Delsa’s life, her little granddaughter, Hope. This little girl again brought out the best in Delsa. The love and laughter they shared was a beautiful thing to see. Delsa adored her little granddaughter. During this time, Delsa again found the competitive spirit. You would find her relaxing at the casino, challenging the slot machines. Delsa loved going to the casino ridding her purse of the loose change she had no need for and turning it into cash to pay her bills. She loved the challenge of the slots. Delsa was always a winner and Delsa was truly blessed. She was a warm and wonderful woman. The love she had for her children, for Mark and her granddaughters was immeasurable. She will forever be in our hearts.

Delsa was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Delia. She is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Sammy Perez of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Tammye Perez of Hobbs, NM; her sister, Debbie McDonald of Ballinger, TX; brothers: Daniel Robledo and  David Robledo of Eldorado, TX and Joel Robledo of San Angelo TX.
