Elueo “Leo” Lopez, 88, passed away on January 14, 2021. Leo was born on September 25, 1932 in Beeville, TX to Eliseo and Matilde Lopez.
Leo was married to Adella Lopez for 66 years and together had four sons. Leo and Adella moved to Hobbs, NM in 1969 and was employed by Lea County Road Department and retired after 30 years. Leo was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers Eliseo, Bartolo and Rogelio Lopez and sister Elida Lopez.
Leo is survived by wife Adella Lopez and his sons, Rudy Lopez of Albuquerque, NM, Richard Lopez of Midland, TX, Ricky Lopez and spouse Marcy of Midland, TX, and Leo Lopez, Jr and spouse Donna of Hobbs, NM. He is survived by brother Frank Lopez and spouse Linda of Lubbock, Tx. Leo is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Gabriel, Richard Jr, Lauren, Ricky Jr, Rudy, Yvonne, Andrew and Leo James Lopez and 7 great grandchildren: Markus, Matthew, Miguel, Alyssa, Kristina, Myla and Arabela.
Leo was loved by everyone, He never met a stranger. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them especially at family cookouts where he could reminisce and tell stories. He loved his Texas Rangers and enjoyed raising game fowl and competitive derbies. Leo was very well known, respected and loved by the Game Fowl Community.
A Funeral Mass in his honor will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2pm at St. Helena Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to come to Griffin Funeral Home from 10-1:30 that same day to pay their respects.
