Jean Daphne (Theobald) Glans

November 20, 1932 ~ May 4, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Obituary

Jean Daphne (Theobald) Glans, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 4, 2023, in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was born on November 20, 1932, in Bedford, England, to Horace and Constance (Smith) Theobald.

Jean had a deep love for her family, especially her husband Ronald D. Glans, whom she married on August 21, 1954, in Bedford, England. Together, they spent many happy years in Idaho and Connecticut before making Hobbs, New Mexico their home. Although Ronald preceded her in death, their enduring love and partnership continued to inspire those who knew them. Jean's kind and nurturing spirit was evident in the way she welcomed many others into her heart, and they often affectionately called her "mom" or "grandma".

Jean worked for the University of the Southwest for many years, where she met many lifelong friends. She was also a member of the Second Tuesday Book Club, where she formed close and lasting friendships with the ladies she met. She had a captivating presence and loved sharing stories from her life. Her strength, beauty and warmth inspired many who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Constance, and her sister June Hall, all of Webster, Massachusetts. Also passed before her are husband Ronald and infant daughter Vanessa, and son-in-law Bill Witkowski. She is survived by her children Kasey Ravenelle and her husband Mike of Melissa, Texas, Kelley Witkowski of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Dr. Howard Glans and L. Cee of Keller, Texas; three grandchildren, Lindsay George (Michael), Kim Haddock (Bart), and Evan Witkowski (Heather); and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Jack, Ever, Beau, Reed, and Alia.

The family has entrusted the care of cremation to Griffin Funeral Home, and a private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michelle Clingman Scholarship Fund at New Mexico Junior College or to the Lea County Animal Shelter in Jean's memory.
