Jesse Acosta

Jesse Acosta, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at his home on January 19, 2023. He was born January 20, 1953, in Artesia, New Mexico. A funeral service in his memory will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Griffin Funeral Home at 1pm. Family and friends are welcome at the Funeral Home starting at 11am on Monday to pay their respects.  Burial to follow services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Jesse served in the United States Army and retired from the Veteran’s Administration after 25 years of service. Jesse was an easy-going man, friendly and quiet. He lived the life of a confirmed bachelor; traveling to sports events, visiting family, playing his guitar, and writing new music.  He loved playing music with his brother Leo and his Najera family, loved sports, and was known as “Snake” on the basketball court in his high school years.  He was a loud n proud Dallas Cowboys fan, cheered for the NM Aggies, Artesia Bulldogs and LA Dodgers teams. He loved game day, cheering on whichever team or sport was playing at the time. When he wasn’t watching the game, he enjoyed playing his bass guitar, spending time with his family and enjoying his retirement.  He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and had a deep faith in the Lord.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Adolfo and Felipa Acosta of Artesia, NM and his brother Leo Acosta of Albuquerque,

NM.

Jesse is survived by his siblings Rudy Acosta of Artesia, NM, Noel Acosta of Carlsbad, NM, and Linda Callahan of Rusk, TX, and his many nieces and nephews. Cleo and Mary Luna, Renee Acosta Dominic Baiza Jarod and Richard Callahan and many more nieces nephews close friends and cousins that loved him. Jesse will be greatly missed and his memory's will live on in our hearts forever and will be cherished always.
