Joel R. Castillo, 58 was born to Vicente Castillo and Ofelia Robles on July 19, 1962 in Cd. Juarez, Mexico. In 1982 Joel came to US and became a naturalized citizen on March 27, 1995. He married Maria E. Contreras in 1983; together they had one son and four daughters. Joel gave his life to serve the Lord Jesus Christ on the 27th day of May 1990, where he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. He had the privilege to serve as a minister on May 14th, 2009 and was given a church to serve as Pastor for the Evangelic Church of God in Jesus Christ Inc. from January 2016-2020 in Kermit, TX. Joel was not only a Pastor; he was also a husband, uncle, father and grandfather. He loved singing and playing music for the Lord to honor Gods name. He also was known as Varon de Dios.
Romans 8:28 was his favorite scripture. He had many favorite songs and loved the company of his children. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Maria E. Castillo; son, Joel (Cathy) Castillo, Jr.; daughters: Luz Elena (Lamar Turner) Castillo, Raquel (Samuel) Castillo, Rebecca (Rene Vasquez) Castillo, Ruth (Omar) Salazar; sisters; Manuela and Maria Esther Castillo; and eight grandchildren: Nathan Hernandez, Nayla Hernandez, Amara Elena Turner, Galilea Carmi, Ezra Joel Castillo, Kiana Anahi, Rene Asher and Kamila Salazar.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM, Monday, August 31, 2020 and again Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Griffin Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Hobbs First Assembly. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Please be advised that masks and social distancing is required.
