Pedro Licon

Pedro “Pete” Licon, of Hobbs, passed away on January 6, 2020 at his home. He was born in Barstow, Texas to Marcos and Celestina Licon on March 2, 1950, one of 16 children. A Funeral Mass in his honor will be held on January 14, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10am, with burial to follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcome to come pay respects, share memories and grieve together at Griffin Funeral Home on Sunday, January 12 from 3-8pm and Monday, January 13 from 9am-8pm.

Pete was a family man, through and through, spending his days driving truck for the oil fields to provide for his loving wife of 52 years, Rosa, and their 5 children. He made friends easily wherever he went, talking to people and hearing their stories brought him great joy throughout the years. Pete always had time for his family, supporting them in all their endeavors. His wonderful heart, happy personality and loving support will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Pete is preceded in passing by his parents, granddaughter Jeanette Garcia nd great grandson Jordan Vivión Garcia.

Left to treasure the memories he leaves behind are his devoted wife, Rosa Licon, children Sonny J Licon, Pete Licon Jr, Sammy Licon, Saul D. Licon all of Hobbs, New Mexico and Sonia Licon Altamirano of Perryton, Texas, children in law; Martin Altamirano of Perryton, Texas, Angela Licon and Yesenia Burciaga both of Hobbs, New Mexico. He is also survived by his siblings; Margarita Bonilla of Roswell, New Mexico, Luis Licon of El Paso, Texas, Rosa Ponce of Hobbs, New Mexico, Lorinda Muñoz of McAllen, Texas, Adam Licon of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Lupe Baeza of Tulare, California, Anita Licon of Tulare, California, Virginia Zuniga of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Marcos Licon Jr of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Geniva Licon of Hobbs, New Mexico, Eva Rocha of Tulare, California, Connie Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas, Bobby Ray Licon of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Moreno of Tulare, California and Gillermo “Willie” Licon of Tulare, California. He is also remembered by numerous extended family and friends.
