Rafaela Moncada

Rafaela Moncada, of Hobbs entered the realm of angels on May 2, 2021 in Ascension, Mexico. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held 11:00am, Friday, May 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hobbs, NM. Friends and Family are invited to come pay their respects on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Griffin Funeral Home from 10:00am-7:00pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Please be advised that masks are required at both locations.

Rafaela was born on October 5, 1952 in Colonia Tres Almos, Mexico to Baldomero Moncada Enriquez and Antonia Medina Rivera, one of seven children. In the early 70’s she moved to New Mexico where she raised her family. Rafaela was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, nothing was more important to her than family. She worked hard to provide for her three children, and to be there for her grandchildren. Her love for her children was only matched by her dedication to God. Rafaela’s warm and loving presence will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

She is preceded in passing by her father Baldomero Moncada Enriquez, son Oraldo Samora and brother Jose Luis Mocada.

Keeping the memory of her smile forever are her mother Antonia Media Rivera, daughters Lisbeth and Anabel Samora, grandchildren Ashely Alegria, Nicole Desecottier, Isaiah Samora, Ivan M. Quezada, Lucas Quezada and Joel Desecottier, and four great-grandchildren (plus one on the way). She is also survived by her siblings, Jose Adan Moncada, Manuel Moncada, Jose Socoro Moncada, Pedro Moncada and Audelia Moncada, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
