Thomas Juarez

October 14,1955-September 4, 2020

On September 4, 2020, Thomas Juarez of Hobbs NM, was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 64. He was born in Carlsbad, NM to Benito and Zulema Juarez on October 14, 1955. He will be lovingly remembered by his only child, Dominique Monika Juarez and his grandchildren or hooligans, (as he called them) Malliyah, Mario, Milliana, Marko and Major, and by his wing man, Isaiah. He is also survived by Lethicia, Zoey, Noah, countless nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Of his parent’s twenty children, Thomas was the tenth. The ultimate middle child. Surviving siblings include his brothers Mariano, Dibrell, Francisco and his sisters Tina, Elizabeth, Virginia, Olga, Lorraine and Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.

Thomas graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1974. He attended ENMU in Portales, NM receiving his bachelors in education. He worked in various career fields. However, JPTA and Amigo Bail Bonds, are where he impacted many lives. When Thomas began attending the University of the Southwest, he always said “It’s never too late to go back to school!”  Being the first of 20 children to attend college, Thomas received his Master’s Degree in Administration and went on to teach for the Hobbs Municipal School District for over 20 years. Thomas taught in the Special Education Department and impacted all of those he taught. Because of his background and various jobs before becoming a teacher, Thomas related to so many of his students. He saw a little bit of himself in every one of them. He never raised his voice or ever spoke anything negative about anyone.

Thomas believed that everyone had a story to tell, and all it took to learn it, was taking the time to reach out and touch their life. He believed that anyone could become somebody and make a difference in the world and that is why he gave so much of himself. Thomas gave all he had to his students, his daughter and his grandchildren. He dedicated the latter part of his life to taking care of his wing man and giving him the best care he could. Thomas selflessly gave until he could no longer give. He will be remembered as a man with unimaginable love and compassion.

Services have been entrusted with Griffin Funeral Home. A public visitation and viewing will take place on Friday, September 18th, 2020 from 12pm-5pm at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held after the viewing at Taylor Memorial.

His daughter and grandchildren wish to thank the Hobbs Municipal Schools, and the community of Hobbs for all of the outpouring support and continued prayers that they have graciously shown.
