Willie Jones

Willie Lee Jones of Hobbs, New Mexico was born on April 28, 1937 in Lea County, New Mexico to Earnest Jones and Ruthie Mae Wood. Willie, also known as Sonny Hicks by some, went to Hobbs High School and as a young man was a fighter and he enjoyed boxing. He loved to tell stories about when he was a boxer and he would always light up as he shared. Willie loved everyone he met and had a passion to tell people about Jesus. He loved going to church, and was friends with so many churches in town who all loved him so much. He called Chooselife Church his home and loved Pastors Dean, Kathy, Greg, Charity, and Faith and would quote them often in conversation. He was so hungry for the Word of God and wanted everyone he came in contact with to know the truth. His home was filled with books he cherished and never wanted to part with any of them, especially his Bibles.
Willie is preceded in death by his grandmother Dena Hicks, and his parents Earnest Jones and Ruthie Mae Wood. Willie's living relatives are of the Wood,
Hicks, and Jones' families. He will be missed by all of his family and friends at Chooselife Church, his dear friends Robert and Mattie Tyson and family, and his many friends in the community.
